Depression

When Getting Through the Day Feels Impossible

Depression can feel like you're moving through life underwater - everything takes more effort, nothing brings joy, and even simple tasks feel overwhelming. If you've been feeling sad, empty, or numb for weeks or months, struggling to find motivation, or wondering if things will ever get better, please know this: depression is not a character flaw, and you're not weak for struggling. Depression is a real medical condition that affects how your brain processes emotions, and it's one of the most treatable mental health conditions. You deserve support, and recovery is possible.

What Depression Looks Like

Depression affects everyone differently, but common experiences include persistent sadness or emptiness, loss of interest in activities you once enjoyed, changes in sleep (sleeping too much or too little), appetite changes, fatigue, difficulty concentrating, feelings of worthlessness or guilt, and thoughts of death or suicide. You might withdraw from friends and family, struggle to get out of bed, or feel irritable and agitated. Depression can also show up physically - chronic pain, headaches, and digestive issues are common. Many people describe it as feeling stuck, hopeless, or like they're just going through the motions of life without truly living. If this resonates with you, therapy can help you find your way back to yourself.
