Grief
When Loss Changes Everything
Grief is the price we pay for love, and it's one of the most painful experiences we face as humans. Whether you've lost a loved one to death, experienced the end of a significant relationship, lost a job or dream, or are grieving any major life transition, the pain can feel unbearable. You might feel like you're drowning in sadness, anger, guilt, or numbness - or all of them at once. People may tell you that "time heals all wounds" or that you should "move on," but grief doesn't work that way. You don't need to get over your loss; you need support as you learn to carry it. There's no timeline for grief, and whatever you're feeling is valid.
Understanding Your Grief
Grief affects everyone differently and rarely follows the neat "stages" we've been taught about. You might experience waves of intense emotion, then feel surprisingly okay, only to be hit with grief again when you least expect it. Common experiences include profound sadness, anger (at the person who died, at God, at yourself), guilt about things said or unsaid, anxiety about the future, or feeling numb and disconnected. You might struggle with sleep, appetite, concentration, or find yourself avoiding reminders of your loss. Some people feel relief mixed with their sadness, which can bring additional guilt. Grief can also bring up past losses or make you question your beliefs about life and meaning. All of these responses are normal, and you deserve compassionate support as you navigate this difficult time.
Finding Support in Your Grief
Our therapists at Landry Therapy Group provide grief counseling that honors your unique relationship with loss. We won't tell you how to grieve or rush you through your process. Instead, we offer a safe, compassionate space where you can express whatever you're feeling without judgment - whether that's overwhelming sadness, anger, guilt, or even moments of laughter and relief. We'll help you make sense of your grief, develop healthy ways to cope, find meaning in your loss, and gradually integrate your experience into your life moving forward. Grief counseling isn't about forgetting or "getting over" your loss - it's about learning to live with it and honor your loved one while still finding purpose and joy in your own life. We provide grief therapy for individuals of all ages, with both in-person sessions in Mansfield and virtual counseling throughout Texas.
