Children and Adolescents

Supporting Your Child's Mental Health

Watching your child struggle is one of the hardest experiences as a parent. Whether they're dealing with anxiety, depression, behavioral challenges, social difficulties, academic stress, or trauma, you want nothing more than to help them feel better - but you might not know where to start. Children and teens often can't fully express what they're experiencing, and what looks like defiance, withdrawal, or "acting out" is often their way of communicating distress. You're not failing as a parent, and your child isn't broken. With the right support, children and adolescents can develop the skills, resilience, and emotional regulation they need to thrive.

When Your Child Needs Support

Signs that your child or teen might benefit from therapy include persistent sadness or irritability, excessive worry or fear, withdrawal from friends and activities, dramatic changes in behavior or personality, difficulty at school (academically or socially), frequent outbursts or aggression, self-harm or talk of suicide, eating or sleeping problems, regression in developmental milestones, or difficulty coping with major life changes like divorce, death, or moving. You might also notice physical complaints with no medical cause, such as frequent stomachaches or headaches. Teens might engage in risky behaviors, struggle with their identity, or seem disconnected from family. Even if your child's struggles don't fit a specific diagnosis, if you're concerned about their emotional well-being, therapy can help. Early intervention makes a significant difference in a child's long-term mental health.

How We Help Children and Teens Heal

Landry Therapy Group specializes in child and adolescent therapy tailored to your child's developmental level and unique needs. For younger children, we use play therapy, art therapy, and other creative approaches that allow them to process emotions and experiences in ways that feel safe and natural. For adolescents, we offer talk therapy, CBT, and skill-building approaches that respect their growing independence while providing the structure and support they need. We also involve parents and caregivers in the therapeutic process when appropriate, offering guidance and support for the entire family. Our therapists are experienced in treating anxiety, depression, ADHD, behavioral issues, trauma, grief, school refusal, social difficulties, and more. We provide both in-person therapy in Mansfield and virtual sessions, making it convenient for busy families.
